The route

  2. T17treble 17
  3. D6double 6

123 needs all three darts: treble 20, treble 17, double 6.

Dartboard with the route for 123 marked

Darts in hand

  • With three darts: treble 20, treble 17, double 6.
  • With two darts 123 cannot be finished — the most you can check out in two is 110.
  • With one dart only doubles and the bull finish, and 123 is not one of them.

If the first dart misses

Hit the single 20 instead of treble 20 and you are left on 103, which you cannot finish this turn; score sensibly and come back to a double next turn.

The finishing double

The route finishes on double 6. If that dart catches the single instead, the double halves cleanly: double 3. That is why even doubles are the favourite finishes.

Other ways out

These routes add up too. Players pick between them by the trebles they trust and the double they like to finish on.

  • T19 T18 D6treble 19, treble 18, double 6
  • T18 T17 D9treble 18, treble 17, double 9
  • T17 T12 D18treble 17, treble 12, double 18
