The route

  1. T20treble 20
  2. 19single 19
  3. D20double 20

119 needs all three darts: treble 20, single 19, double 20.

Dartboard with the route for 119 marked

Darts in hand

  • With three darts: treble 20, single 19, double 20.
  • With two darts 119 cannot be finished — the most you can check out in two is 110.
  • With one dart only doubles and the bull finish, and 119 is not one of them.

If the first dart misses

Hit the single 20 instead of treble 20 and you are left on 99, which you cannot finish this turn; score sensibly and come back to a double next turn.

The finishing double

The route finishes on double 20. If that dart catches the single instead, the double halves cleanly: double 10, double 5. That is why even doubles are the favourite finishes.

Other ways out

These routes add up too. Players pick between them by the trebles they trust and the double they like to finish on.

  • T20 T17 D4treble 20, treble 17, double 4
  • T19 T18 D4treble 19, treble 18, double 4
  • T17 T12 D16treble 17, treble 12, double 16
