The route

  1. T8treble 8
  2. D20double 20

64 is a two-dart finish: treble 8, double 20.

Dartboard with the route for 64 marked

Darts in hand

  • With three darts: treble 8, double 20.
  • With two darts: treble 8, double 20.
  • With one dart only doubles and the bull finish, and 64 is not one of them.

If the first dart misses

Hit the single 8 instead of treble 8 and you are left on 56. That has no finish with the darts you have left, so use the next dart to set up: single 16 leaves double 20.

The finishing double

The route finishes on double 20. If that dart catches the single instead, the double halves cleanly: double 10, double 5. That is why even doubles are the favourite finishes.

Other ways out

These routes add up too. Players pick between them by the trebles they trust and the double they like to finish on.

  • T16 D8treble 16, double 8
  • T20 D2treble 20, double 2
  • T18 D5treble 18, double 5
