The route

  1. T17treble 17

  3. D16double 16

134 needs all three darts: treble 17, treble 17, double 16.

Dartboard with the route for 134 marked

Darts in hand

  • With three darts: treble 17, treble 17, double 16.
  • With two darts 134 cannot be finished — the most you can check out in two is 110.
  • With one dart only doubles and the bull finish, and 134 is not one of them.

If the first dart misses

Hit the single 17 instead of treble 17 and you are left on 117, which you cannot finish this turn; score sensibly and come back to a double next turn.

The finishing double

The route finishes on double 16. If that dart catches the single instead, the double halves cleanly: double 8, double 4, double 2, double 1. That is why even doubles are the favourite finishes.

Other ways out

These routes add up too. Players pick between them by the trebles they trust and the double they like to finish on.

  • T20 T18 D10treble 20, treble 18, double 10
  • T19 T19 D10treble 19, treble 19, double 10
  • T18 T16 D16treble 18, treble 16, double 16
