The route

  1. T17treble 17
  2. 18single 18
  3. D20double 20

109 needs all three darts: treble 17, single 18, double 20.

Dartboard with the route for 109 marked

Darts in hand

  • With three darts: treble 17, single 18, double 20.
  • With two darts 109 cannot be finished from here.
  • With one dart only doubles and the bull finish, and 109 is not one of them.

If the first dart misses

Hit the single 17 instead of treble 17 and you are left on 92, which still goes out with 2 darts: treble 20, double 16.

The finishing double

The route finishes on double 20. If that dart catches the single instead, the double halves cleanly: double 10, double 5. That is why even doubles are the favourite finishes.

Other ways out

These routes add up too. Players pick between them by the trebles they trust and the double they like to finish on.

  • T18 15 D20treble 18, single 15, double 20
  • T19 12 D20treble 19, single 12, double 20
  • T20 9 D20treble 20, single 9, double 20
