Course notes
Course #2767 plays to a par of 46 over eighteen holes and 72 rooms of track — about 79 metres end to end. It is one of the trickiest courses in the set, and par asks for clean, unhurried putting from the first tee to the last. The back nine is where the course bites: par 20 out, but par 26 on the way in.
The longest hole is hole 11, with 6 rooms and 4 turns. No hole is longer than par 3, so a good round here is mostly about holing the second putt. Short openers: holes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 can be holed in one with the right pace.
Water comes into play on holes 5, 10, 12, 17 and 18. The bridges on holes 12, 17 and 18 have no rails — line them up square and use less power than you think. Slopes tilt the track on holes 1, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15 and 17. Corner banks on holes 2, 3, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 17 let a medium-paced ball turn the corner by itself. On holes 1, 7, 13 and 17 the cup sits in a bowl that gathers a slow ball. On holes 15 and 18 the cup is perched on a hill that sheds a slow ball — come in dead straight and a touch firmer. Blocks stand in the middle of a room on holes 13 and 14; pick a side early. A fence with a narrow gap crosses the track on hole 15.
How to play it
- On a bridge without rails, the putt that matters is the one before it: get the ball into the middle of the room, square to the bridge, and the crossing becomes a straight putt.
- On a hill hole, a putt that stops short rolls back to you. Better to be slightly long and straight than delicate.
- Treat each slope like a stream: aim upstream of the line you want and let the slope bring the ball down to it.
- Send the ball into a corner bank at medium pace. Too hard and it rattles back across the room; too soft and it dies on the bank.
- Use Hint when you are stuck: it shows a good line from where the ball lies, the same line the computer would choose.
