- With three darts: treble 20, treble 19, double 18.
- With two darts 153 cannot be finished — the most you can check out in two is 110.
- With one dart only doubles and the bull finish, and 153 is not one of them.
If the first dart misses
Hit the single 20 instead of treble 20 and you are left on 133, which you cannot finish this turn; score sensibly and come back to a double next turn.
The finishing double
The route finishes on double 18. If that dart catches the single instead, the double halves cleanly: double 9. That is why even doubles are the favourite finishes.

There is only one way to finish 153 with three darts.
