Course notes

Course #2796 plays to a par of 46 over eighteen holes and 71 rooms of track — about 78 metres end to end. It sits in the middle of the set: nothing extreme, but enough slopes and turns to need a plan on most holes. The back nine is where the course bites: par 20 out, but par 26 on the way in.

The longest hole is hole 16, with 6 rooms and 2 turns. Only hole 15 is a par 4: play it in two careful stages. Short openers: holes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 can be holed in one with the right pace.

Water comes into play on holes 5, 7, 15 and 18. The bridges on holes 15 and 18 have no rails — line them up square and use less power than you think. Slopes tilt the track on holes 2, 4, 13, 16 and 17. Corner banks on holes 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 17 and 18 let a medium-paced ball turn the corner by itself. On holes 7, 8, 12, 13 and 16 the cup sits in a bowl that gathers a slow ball. A block stands in the middle of a room on hole 16; pick a side early. Fences with a narrow gap cross the track on holes 13 and 15.

How to play it

• On a bridge without rails, the putt that matters is the one before it: get the ball into the middle of the room, square to the bridge, and the crossing becomes a straight putt.
• Treat each slope like a stream: aim upstream of the line you want and let the slope bring the ball down to it.
• Send the ball into a corner bank at medium pace. Too hard and it rattles back across the room; too soft and it dies on the bank.
• At a fence, play to the gap from straight on; a ball coming in at an angle catches the post on the edge of the gap.
• Use Hint when you are stuck: it shows a good line from where the ball lies, the same line the computer would choose.
