Course notes
Course #2760 plays to a par of 46 over eighteen holes and 78 rooms of track — about 86 metres end to end. It is one of the gentler courses in the set: short holes, room to recover and few places to lose a stroke. The back nine is where the course bites: par 21 out, but par 25 on the way in.
The longest hole is hole 15, with 6 rooms and 2 turns. No hole is longer than par 3, so a good round here is mostly about holing the second putt. Short openers: holes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 can be holed in one with the right pace.
Water comes into play on hole 17. The bridge on hole 17 has no rails — line it up square and use less power than you think. Slopes tilt the track on holes 1, 2, 4, 10, 11, 13 and 15. Corner banks on holes 3, 5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 17 let a medium-paced ball turn the corner by itself. On holes 4, 5, 9, 13 and 18 the cup sits in a bowl that gathers a slow ball. On holes 7, 8, 10 and 17 the cup is perched on a hill that sheds a slow ball — come in dead straight and a touch firmer. Blocks stand in the middle of a room on holes 7, 8, 9, 13 and 18; pick a side early. Fences with a narrow gap cross the track on holes 6 and 12.
How to play it
- On a bridge without rails, the putt that matters is the one before it: get the ball into the middle of the room, square to the bridge, and the crossing becomes a straight putt.
- On a hill hole, a putt that stops short rolls back to you. Better to be slightly long and straight than delicate.
- Treat each slope like a stream: aim upstream of the line you want and let the slope bring the ball down to it.
- Send the ball into a corner bank at medium pace. Too hard and it rattles back across the room; too soft and it dies on the bank.
- Use Hint when you are stuck: it shows a good line from where the ball lies, the same line the computer would choose.
